L-Guitar Deluxe Flux series pickups feature a patent pending bobbin assembly, in which, additional magnetic material is introduced into the bobbin before the magnet wire is applied. That additional magnetic material is constructed from a space-age alloy that allows the Deluxe Flux series to have its unmistakable attack, rich tone, and robust output. Additionally, that bobbin design lowers the frequency at which the inherent idle noise of true single-coil pickups occurs.  That idle noise is a constant presence in your guitar’s output signal and is being amplified by the guitar amp while you’re playing. Lowering the frequency of that noise, provides a more open-sounding top end, clearing the way for the beautiful overtone harmonics and picking nuances of your performances.

The patent pending combination is a modern evolution in pickup design that provides a smoother high-frequency response, never any “ice picking”, reduces amp hiss inherent to single coil pickups, and increases output voltage/volume. 

  In keeping with the best of vintage technology, Deluxe Flux pickups are all hand-wound in the vintage “scramble method”. The benefit of continuing in that hand-guided tradition over modern machine traverse-guided is the prevention of the formation of Eddy currents in the pickup’s coil. Eddy currents create small amounts of capacitance that affect the pickup’s frequency response in negative ways.

All Deluxe Flux pickups are designed, developed, and meticulously handmade by the L-Guitar Co. in

Chatsworth, California. 

Deluxe Flux Single Coil Pickup Types:

The Deluxe Flux Tall Boy: 

-Black over Gray bobbin flatware

- Alnico 4 or 5-rod magnets/ poll pieces 

- .720 - .760 - .780 magnet heights 

- .187 diameter rod magnets / pole pieces 

- 42-gauge heavy formvar magnet wire

- The magnet wire bed height between the top and bottom pieces of flatware is .500 / 1/

Deluxe Flux Single Coil Pickup Types:

The Deluxe Flux Tall Boy: 

-Black over Gray bobbin flatware

- Alnico 4 or 5-rod magnets/ poll pieces 

- .720 - .760 - .780 magnet heights 

- .187 diameter rod magnets / pole pieces 

- 42-gauge heavy formvar magnet wire

- The magnet wire bed height between the top and bottom pieces of flatware is .500 / 1/2”. Standard single-coil pickup’s magnet wire bed are only .375 / 3/8”. This is why we use the term “Tall Boy”

- 100% Bees wax potted 1st stage, deep soaking, 90/10% Paraffin / Bees wax 2nd potting stage,  exterior protective layer.

- Vintage cloth hook-up wire

- Typical D.C. resistance 5.7K to 6.5K depending on pickup location

- Middle pickups are available in both RWRP and uniform polarity and wind. 

The Deluxe Flux Tall Boy Plus:

-Grey over Grey bobbin flatware

-.195 diameter rod magnets /pole pieces

Those are the only two differences between Tall Boy and Tall Boy Plus pickups.
